TCA/NZSA Writers Professional Development Programme

The Cultural Fund contributes to the NZSA Writers Professional Development Programme, supporting programmes that grow and develop Aotearoa New Zealand writers.

The New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa (PEN NZ Inc) was established in 1934 as the principal professional organisation representing, developing, and supporting New Zealand writers. With over 1,800 members, NZSA’s activities benefit writers and the wider book sector.

NZSA runs professional development programmes through digital technologies and in-person events:

  • Writers Toolkit – Online courses via Teachable
  • Web-workshop masterclasses – Annual series of online interactive sessions
  • Regional Roadshows – In-person events across Aotearoa

NZSA provides skills development, professional support, networking, and advocacy for all writers. Their extensive national network includes 9 branches offering regional support and collegiality, ensuring engagement with diverse and remote communities.
